Dr. Patricia O’Brien and Dr. Judith S Willison -- With violent policing, inhumane detention and imprisonment,

community surveillance, and loss of civil rights, we see that the criminal legal system is unjust, racist, and oppressive. Anti-oppressive approaches to transforming the system across custodial and community settings are crucial. This forum will promote discussion about how social work and other professions that interface with the criminal legal system can take action. The presenters will address the application
of reform and transformative ideas to practice, policy, research, and teaching.
