This week marks the beginning of the Chinese
Lunar New Year -- Year of the Monkey -- which is also celebrated in many other
East and Southeast Asian countries totaling about 1.5 billion people in the
world.
The Asian Student Union and Asian Studies Program will hold its annual dinner on Tuesday, February 9th, at 6 pm, in the RCC
Grand Ballroom. The event will include booths showcasing different cultural
traditions such as calligraphy and games, an introduction of New Year customs,
performances of lion dance and martial arts from the Wah Lum
Academy in Malden, traditional Chinese music ensemble by
Professor Hui Weng of the New England Conservatory of Music and
her students, as well as performances of Chinese dance by some of our
students.
The event is supported by the Student Government Association. Faculty,
students, members of the campus community and their families are welcome to
attend. Hope to see you there if you are free.
