Enjoy free lunch and a talk by Jack Schneider, who teaches education at the College of the Holy Cross and directs the Massachusetts Consortium for Innovative Education Assessment. Professor Schneider will share his recent research on how perceptions of school quality -- which are often based on tools like state report cards or online ratings -- drive people to particular neighborhoods. The result is a self-fulfilling prophecy, in which schools perceived to be "bad" end up being further harmed.

Professor Schneider will speak from approximately 12:30-1:30pm, with audience Q&A to follow. This event is free and open to the public, but because spaces are limited, registration is required at http://bit.ly/edjustice319.

This is the fifth event in #edjustice, a two-week series on justice & injustice in the American education system, sponsored by the Martin Richard Institute for Social Justice at Bridgewater State University.
