On Thursday, November 8, from 5-7 p.m. in the Maxwell Library Heritage Room, the Canadian Studies Program Film Series will present John McCrae's War: In Flanders Fields.

The film profiles Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae, Canadian physician and author of "In Flanders Fields." Inspired by the death of a close friend, and the sight of poppies blooming on soldiers' graves, the poem was written during World War I while McCrae cared for the wounded in a hospital in Belgium, circulated among soldiers for months before it was published, and led to the poppy becoming an international symbol of remembrance.

John McCrae's War: In Flanders Fields is open the BSU community and the public.
