Music of Remembrance: A Concert for Holocaust Memorial Day
Featuring Dr. Deborah Nemko, pianist with Professor Albert Craig, baritone
The concert is free and open to the public
Faculty are encouraged to bring their classes to the event
On April 27 Yom HaShoah, Holocaust Memorial Day, Dr. Deborah Nemko, Fulbright Scholar and concert pianist presents a powerful concert of largely unknown music that was suppressed by the Nazis while many of the composers, themselves, were murdered. Despite the difficult circumstances, the music is often light and jazz influenced, reflecting the optimism of people who hoped for better times. In addition to performing this beautiful and moving music, Dr. Nemko will give a talk about the Holocaust .
