Peace on the Korean
Peninsula; A New Future: Challenges and Opportunities. On Tuesday, October
16 from 11 a.m.-12 p.m., Mr. Yonghyon Kim,
Consul General for the Republic of Korea, Boston, will speak in the auditorium
of the Mohler-Faria Science and Mathematics Center.
Mr. Kim brings thirty years of diplomatic
expertise and experience to his office. Prior to his current position, he was Director-General
for the Korean Peninsula Peace Regime from March 2016, overseeing North
Korea-related issues including reunification diplomacy from the diplomatic
perspective. Previous positions include Deputy Director-General for North
Korean Nuclear Affairs, Korean Consul General in Erbil, Iraq, and work at the Korean
Consulate General in New York, promoting public awareness on North Korea’s
human rights situation, nuclear and missile threats.
Mr. Kim's talk is open to the BSU
community and the public. Faculty are welcome to bring their classes.
