Here is an opportunity to learn more about the Islamic faith, the crisis in Syria, and why and how residents are fleeing their country. Wondering what is the proper response? Come meet the speakers.
Dr. Jabbar Al-Obaidi, Chair of Middle Eastern Studies, and Ghada Masri, President of the Muslim Student Association, have selected the presenters to engage you with first-hand information:
The President of American-Islamic Relations will introduce the core of Islamic faith.
A refugee family will say why they are fleeing Syria and what their experience has been.
A legal representative will review how emigrants obtain refugee status.
A physician will describer his medical team's mission.
The presentation will begin at 12 noon, with ample time for one-on-one handshakes and questions before and afterwards. Light brunch is offered at 11:30AM. All are welcome to attend and participate in the Q&A and the informal mingling that follows.
This forum is co-sponsored by the Center for Middle Eastern Studies, the Muslim Student Association, the First Parish Unitarian Universalist Church and The Catholic Center/St Basil Chapel/ St Thomas Aquinas parish.
First Parish UU is located at 50 School Street, Bridgewater.
